2024

When I was 13, I moved to KwaCeza, in KwaZulu-Natal, where my stepfather worked in a hospital. It is here that I lost my heart to nature and the people of our beautiful country. Sadly, over the years, things have gone from bad to worse, and very quickly our province has become one with devastating records: most people with HIV (1 in 3) and Tuberculosis, in the top three provinces with the most murders: and 855 women and 243 children were killed in 2021, with this a rapidly increasing figure in subsequent years and up to date. In South Africa, more than 122,000 teenagers gave birth in the 2024 financial year, with 2 716 young girls aged 10 to 14 and 119 587 teens aged 15 to 19 facing parenthood while still being children themselves.

To contribute to a solution to these immense problems, we launched our NGO in 2003: OneVoice South Africa. (www.onevoice.org.za)
What have we been doing for decades? We go into schools and municipalities and provide education and training that better protect the youth, but especially girls and women, against HIV, Tuberculosis, teenage pregnancy, poverty, and sexual violence. Resilience, information about hygiene and contraception, and, for example, setting up small (micro) businesses with which they are active and financially independent. We also work with mentors who can assist our girls when they need help; legal advice, religious advice, coaching, protection, and victim support, but also business administration and linking to medical services.

Please contribute! 30 euros is enough to be able to offer a class with 50 children our lessons and support for four months. We can now use your help better than ever and sharing this post would help us tremendously! Or you can donate through our partner GivenGain in Switzerland:

Thank you very much on behalf of OneVoice South Africa!!
